Condensing furnaces fail in predictable ways: condensate traps clog, flame sensors foul, pressure-switch hoses crack, filters load up and drag airflow down until the limit trips. Maintenance is about finding those before winter. Manufacturers also expect it; Carrier's installation instructions, for example, set out annual cleaning of the condensate trap, inspection of the burners and heat exchanger and a check of temperature rise.
A maintenance visit is also when the technician reads the control's stored fault history. A furnace that has quietly logged a dozen pressure-switch events over the summer is telling you something, even if it has never locked out.

What is not included
- Parts, unless quoted at the visit
- Duct cleaning
- Maintenance plan pricing: plans are listed on this site only once BC Wide confirms terms
Permits: Routine appliance servicing does not normally require a gas permit; work that alters the gas piping (new runs, relocated connections) does. The technician confirms per job.
When not to DIY
- Never open the burner compartment or work on gas, combustion or venting components yourself
- Gas piping work requires a Technical Safety BC licensed gas contractor and the applicable permit
- If you smell gas, leave the building and call FortisBC at 1-800-663-9911 or 911 before anything else

Questions people ask
How often should a gas furnace be serviced?
Once a year is the manufacturer norm for condensing furnaces, ideally before the heating season. Filters need attention more often, typically every one to three months depending on the filter.
Does maintenance keep my warranty valid?
Manufacturers commonly require the furnace to be installed and maintained per their instructions. Keep the service records; they help with any warranty claim.
Do you offer maintenance plans?
BC Wide can discuss plan options by phone. This site lists plan terms only when they are confirmed, so nothing here is a guaranteed offer.
