Carrier 59SC6A status code 24.1: fuse fault
Status code 24.1 means the 3-amp automotive-type fuse on the furnace control has blown. Any short in the 24 V wiring during installation, service or maintenance will blow this fuse, and the control displays 24.1 when it needs replacement.

A code is a condition, not a diagnosis
A blown fuse is the symptom, not the fault. The short that blew it must be found before a new fuse is fitted: a pinched wire, a shorted thermostat cable, a faulty 24 V accessory, or work done with power on.

Safe things to look at first
- Read the full code on the control display through the door, including any minor digit (for example 33.2), and write it down.
- Look, without touching, for obvious conditions you can report: snow or ice at the vent terminations, water on the floor, a loaded filter, a condensate pump that is full or off.
- Note whether the furnace still heats at all, and how long it runs before the code returns.
- Note anything recently changed or serviced on the furnace, thermostat or 24 V accessories, and look for water near the wiring.
Do not
- Do not replace the fuse with anything other than a 3-amp fuse as specified by Carrier.
- Do not bypass the fuse with wire or a larger fuse; the fuse protects the low-voltage circuit.
- Do not keep cycling power to force the furnace to relight; if the code returns, stop and call.

- A technician isolates power, finds and corrects the short, then replaces the fuse with the correct 3-amp part and verifies the control operates.

Can I replace the 24 V fuse myself?
