Where a two-stage furnace has two gas rates, the Infinity 98 modulates: Carrier's product data lists maximum, intermediate and minimum inputs for each size, with the minimum around 40% of full input (24,000 BTU/h on the 60,000 BTU/h sizes). The burner, inducer and communicating blower work together to match output to the house's heat loss almost exactly, which is where the family's quieter, steadier heating comes from.
Carrier certifies the six sizes at 97.2% to 98.5% AFUE upflow and horizontal (the 060C21–20 reaches 98.5%) and 95.0% to 96.7% downflow. The family carries the current-generation 3-digit display with Bluetooth and NFC service tools, ComfortFan and SmartEvap logic, and is built for the communicating Infinity system with zoning and cooling integration.
The 59MN7C is the current generation of the Infinity 98 marketing family in Canada. Because a modulating furnace depends on its control and set-up, Carrier's product data stresses correct sizing and configuration; like every family in the line, none of its sizes may be used where the heating load is 20,000 BTU/h or lower.

Questions people ask
Is the Infinity 98 worth the price over a two-stage furnace?
It is Carrier's most expensive residential furnace and its most precise: the gas rate follows the heat loss continuously instead of stepping. The benefit shows in steady temperatures and quiet low-capacity operation, not in a large gas saving over a 96% two-stage unit.
What does Greenspeed mean on this furnace?
Greenspeed Intelligence is Carrier's communicating variable-capacity system technology. On the furnace side it means the modulating gas valve, variable-speed inducer and communicating blower adjusting together through the Infinity control.
What AFUE will my Infinity 98 have?
It depends on size and position: Carrier certifies 97.2% to 98.5% AFUE upflow and horizontal by size, and 95.0% to 96.7% downflow. The rating plate states the certified figure for the installed position.
