Carrier 59TP6C status code 24.1: fuse fault
Status code 24.1 means the 3-amp automotive-type fuse on the furnace control has blown. Carrier's installation instructions state that the 24 V circuit contains this fuse and that any short in the 24 V wiring during installation, service or maintenance will blow it; the control displays 24.1 when the fuse needs replacement.

A code is a condition, not a diagnosis
A blown fuse is the symptom, not the fault. The short that blew it must be found before a new fuse is fitted, otherwise it blows again. Common causes: a wire pinched against the cabinet, a shorted thermostat wire, a faulty humidifier or other 24 V accessory, or work done on the system with power on.

Documented for Carrier 59TP6C furnaces (all nine sizes) in installation instructions 59TP6C-01SI REV A, edition 06/23. The manual is explicit that only a 3-amp fuse may be used as a replacement.

Safe things to look at first
- Read the full code on the control display through the door, including any minor digit (for example 33.2), and write it down.
- Look, without touching, for obvious conditions you can report: snow or ice at the vent terminations, water on the floor, a loaded filter, a condensate pump that is full or off.
- Note whether the furnace still heats at all, and how long it runs before the code returns.
- Note anything recently changed or serviced on the furnace, thermostat, humidifier or other 24 V accessories.
- Look for water near the furnace or wiring that could have shorted a circuit.
Do not
- Do not replace the fuse with anything other than a 3-amp fuse as specified by Carrier.
- Do not bypass the fuse with wire or a larger fuse; the fuse protects the low-voltage circuit.
- Do not keep cycling power to force the furnace to relight; if the code returns, stop and call.

Can I replace the 24 V fuse myself?
Replacing the fuse is simple, but the short that blew it is not. If a fresh 3-amp fuse blows again or the code returns, the wiring fault must be traced. BC Wide replaces it as part of the diagnosis.
