The Carrier Infinity 97 (59TN7A) is a communicating two-stage condensing furnace with a constant-airflow ECM blower, rated up to 97% AFUE upflow, sold in five sizes from 60,000 to 120,000 BTU/h input. It adds the current-generation 3-digit display and NFC setup to the communicating Infinity platform.

The Infinity 97 is Carrier's two-stage communicating furnace at the 97% efficiency step: the Comfort Heat two-stage gas system with a variable-speed constant-airflow (VCA) ECM blower, built to run as a communicating system with an Infinity Control, Infinity air conditioner or heat pump, and Infinity zoning. Its control board carries the current-generation 3-digit display, NFC setup through the Carrier service technician app, and RAT/SAT thermistor connections for temperature rise.
Carrier certifies every size at 97.0% AFUE upflow, 95.0% downflow and 96.2% to 96.7% horizontal depending on size, so the installed figure depends on position. The family carries ComfortFan, SmartEvap, and Ideal Humidity System technology for dehumidification without overcooling when paired with compatible equipment.
Five sizes from 60,000 to 120,000 BTU/h input cover the larger half of the furnace market; houses with smaller loads step down to the Infinity 96 or the Performance families. Carrier's product data repeats the standing sizing note: none of the sizes may be used where the heating load is 20,000 BTU/h or lower, and excessive oversizing can shorten furnace and vent life.

How does the Infinity 97 differ from the Infinity 96?
Both are communicating two-stage furnaces with constant-airflow blowers. The Infinity 97 certifies at 97.0% AFUE upflow (the 96 family certifies up to 96.7%) and uses the newer control generation with the 3-digit display and NFC setup.
What is the difference between the Infinity 97 and the Infinity 98?
The Infinity 97 is two-stage: low and high fire. The Infinity 98 (59MN7C) is modulating: its gas valve and inducer vary continuously across a range of inputs, which is a different control system and a higher price tier.
Does the Infinity 97 need a special thermostat?
As a communicating furnace it is designed for an Infinity Control or compatible Infinity communicating user interface. The installer confirms the correct control for the system configuration.
