The 59TP6C 120V24–22 is the largest Performance 96: 120,000 BTU/h input, 78,000 BTU/h on low fire, 117,000 BTU/h output on high, 96.7% AFUE upflow, in a 24.5-inch cabinet with six burners. It is a specialist size for genuinely large or poorly insulated houses, and for duct systems designed around a big furnace.

This is the top of the 59TP6C family, sharing the family's best certified upflow figure of 96.7% with the 080V21–20. Low fire alone delivers 76,000 BTU/h of output, which exceeds the high-fire output of the family's 060 size; high fire delivers 117,000 BTU/h from 120,000 BTU/h of input. The 1 HP blower reaches 2,045 CFM in high heat and up to 2,130 CFM for cooling at rated static pressure.
A 120,000 BTU/h input furnace is a large appliance: 24.5 inches wide, 191 lb, six burners, and a 20 A circuit by default (a low-amp kit drops the draw to 11.3 A and the breaker to 15 A with 14 AWG wire). The cabinet needs a mechanical room that can take it, and the duct system must actually move 2,000+ CFM or the furnace will trip its limits. Carrier's product data is explicit that oversizing can cause premature furnace and vent failure, and none of its sizes is certified for loads of 20,000 BTU/h or below.
In the Lower Mainland this size is uncommon in new work. It most often appears replacing an old 120,000 BTU/h unit in a large older house where the heat-loss calculation genuinely supports it, or where the ductwork and existing layout leave no practical smaller option. Questions people ask
Is 120,000 BTU/h ever right for a Vancouver-area house?
Occasionally, for large older houses with poor envelope performance, or where the duct system was designed around a big furnace. It is never chosen from square footage alone; the heat-loss calculation must support the capacity.
Why does the 120V24–22 show a cooling airflow range starting at only 165 CFM?
That is the low end of the selectable blower profile as printed in Carrier's product data (165 – 2130 CFM). Cooling airflow is set by the installer to the coil's requirement; the range is the control's capability, not a recommended setting.
Does this furnace need a special electrical circuit?
Carrier lists a 20 A maximum fuse or circuit breaker with 12 AWG minimum wire as the default. An optional low-amp kit allows a 15 A breaker with 14 AWG wire. The electrician sizes the branch circuit on site.
