The Comfort 96 runs one gas rate, and this size delivers 58,000 BTU/h whenever the thermostat calls. That puts it squarely at the size band many 1950s to 1980s Lower Mainland detached homes calculate into after insulation upgrades, and where a single-stage furnace is an acceptable, lower-cost answer.
The 17.5-inch cabinet carries four burners and a 3/4 HP MCT ECM blower with up to 1,580 CFM of cooling airflow, enough for a mid-sized air conditioner or heat pump. Carrier certifies 96.5% AFUE upflow and horizontal, 95% downflow. The narrow 14.2-inch sibling (060M14–12) delivers 56,000 BTU/h at 95.0% AFUE and is the same capacity for a tighter closet.
