Carrier's Canadian residential line-up, as listed on carrier.com/residential/en/ca on 2026-09-07, includes the Comfort 96 (59SC6), Performance 96 (59SP6 single-stage and 59TP6 two-stage), Performance 97 (59TP7), Infinity 96 (59TN6), Infinity 97 (59TN7) and the modulating Infinity 98 with Greenspeed Intelligence (59MN7). The family code on the rating plate, not the marketing name, tells you exactly which furnace you have.
Carrier furnaces are sold and serviced through independent dealers. BC Wide Heating & Air Conditioning lists Carrier among the brands it installs and repairs; that does not by itself make BC Wide a Carrier factory-authorized dealer, and this site will only say so when the authorization is confirmed.

The Carrier Comfort 96 is a single-stage condensing gas furnace with a multi 18-speed constant-torque (MCT) ECM blower and a single-speed inducer, rated up to 96.5% AFUE. Family code 59SC6A is the current generation with a 3-digit status display, sold in eleven sizes from 26,000 to 140,000 BTU/h input.

It adds the current-generation 3-digit display and NFC setup to the communicating Infinity platform.

Carrier Infinity 98 with Greenspeed (59MN7C)
The Carrier Infinity 98 with Greenspeed (59MN7C) is Carrier's modulating condensing furnace: a variable-capacity gas valve and variable-speed inducer with a constant-airflow ECM blower, rated up to 98.5% AFUE, sold in six sizes from 60,000 to 120,000 BTU/h maximum input. It is the top of Carrier's residential gas line.

Carrier Performance 96 (59TP6A)
The 59TP6A is the first-generation Performance 96 two-stage condensing furnace (Series 1, 2014), sold in eight sizes from 40,000 to 120,000 BTU/h input with a variable-speed ECM blower. It was superseded by the 59TP6B in 2019 and then the 59TP6C, and is documented here for repair and parts context because thousands remain in service across Canada.

What do Carrier model numbers mean?
