Most furnace manufacturers offer an upgraded warranty when the equipment is registered within a set window (commonly 90 days from installation, as stated on this site's model pages from the manufacturers' own product data). Missing the window or entering the wrong model or serial number can leave the furnace on its default coverage.
Registration assistance covers the mechanics: the correct identifiers from the rating plate, the installation date, the model program where registration asks for it, and confirmation that the manufacturer's system accepted the registration.
For equipment BC Wide installs, registration is completed as part of the installation and the confirmation is kept with the job file. For other equipment, the service verifies what is already registered and fixes what is not.
Carrier specifics
Carrier sells residential gas furnaces in Canada through its Canadian site and dealer network, in three tiers: Comfort, Performance and Infinity. Furnaces range from single-stage models to modulating units with variable-speed blowers, and all current sizes are design certified in Canada.
BC Wide lists Carrier among the brands it works on. Factory-authorized dealer status for Carrier has not been confirmed and is not claimed here.

Questions people ask
What happens if I miss the registration window?
The equipment stays on the default warranty the manufacturer states for unregistered furnaces. Some manufacturers allow late registration at their discretion; BC Wide can ask, but the terms are the manufacturer's.
Where do I find my furnace serial number?
On the rating plate inside the blower door. It is a different number from the model number; both are needed for registration.
