Furnace sizing is the practical result of the heat-loss assessment: choosing the specific capacity and cabinet that fits the house and its ducts. This site documents capacities and certified outputs from manufacturer product data so a quoted size can be checked against the published numbers.
Correct sizing protects the equipment as well as comfort. Manufacturer product data used across this site warns that excessive oversizing may cause the furnace or vent to fail prematurely, can cause discomfort and vent freezing, and that failure to follow sizing guidance can impact warranty coverage.
Airflow is the second half of sizing. The selected furnace's required CFM at rated static pressure must fit the duct system; if it does not, the honest answer is ductwork work, a smaller furnace, or both. That decision belongs in the proposal, not discovered after installation.
Carrier specifics
Carrier sells residential gas furnaces in Canada through its Canadian site and dealer network, in three tiers: Comfort, Performance and Infinity. Furnaces range from single-stage models to modulating units with variable-speed blowers, and all current sizes are design certified in Canada.
BC Wide lists Carrier among the brands it works on. Factory-authorized dealer status for Carrier has not been confirmed and is not claimed here.

Questions people ask
What happens if no furnace size fits my heat loss exactly?
The sizing rule is to cover 100 percent of the design load plus the smallest increment a model size adds. When the load falls below the smallest condensing furnace available, a heat pump or other solution is discussed instead of oversizing.
Can a furnace be too small?
Yes. An undersized furnace runs almost continuously and still cannot hold the set point on the coldest days. Sizing is a range decision, and the calculation defines it.
