A furnace inspection answers a specific question: what is the condition of this heating equipment right now? It differs from maintenance (which cleans and services) and from diagnostics (which finds a fault). The inspection documents what was found, what is within normal service life, and what needs attention, so the reader can decide.
The inspection follows the manufacturer's service guidance and the applicable codes: gas supply and connections, venting and combustion air, condensate path, heat exchanger condition where visible, ignition and flame sensing, blower and airflow evidence, and carbon-monoxide risk from the appliance. Combustion analysis is part of the inspection where the furnace can be run.
Inspections are not warranty opinions and not real-estate legal advice; the written report states condition findings and recommended actions. Buyers should know that a home inspection may not include combustion analysis; a furnace inspection by a licensed gas contractor adds it.
Carrier specifics
Carrier sells residential gas furnaces in Canada through its Canadian site and dealer network, in three tiers: Comfort, Performance and Infinity. Furnaces range from single-stage models to modulating units with variable-speed blowers, and all current sizes are design certified in Canada.
BC Wide lists Carrier among the brands it works on. Factory-authorized dealer status for Carrier has not been confirmed and is not claimed here.

Questions people ask
I am buying a house. Is a furnace inspection worth it?
For an older furnace, yes: the report tells you the equipment's condition, remaining-life expectations and any code issues before you commit. It is a different, deeper check than the visual look a home inspection provides.
Does an inspection include carbon monoxide testing?
The inspection reviews carbon-monoxide risk and, where the furnace can be run, measures combustion. If you want ambient CO monitoring advice for the home, ask for it as part of the report.
Can an inspection clear a furnace for another year of service?
It documents the condition on that day. Nothing can guarantee future failures, but a clean inspection with combustion analysis is the best available evidence of a sound furnace.
