Napoleon Ductwork and Airflow Assessment
BC Wide measures ductwork performance instead of guessing: static pressure, supply and return airflow, filter and register restrictions, and duct sizing issues. The assessment explains whether a new furnace will work on the existing ducts or what ductwork work is genuinely needed. This page covers Napoleon furnaces specifically.
When the ducts are the problem: static pressure, returns and register airflow

Furnaces fail quietly on bad ducts: limits trip on high fire, rooms at the end of runs stay cold, and the blower runs harder than it should. The measurable evidence is static pressure: the resistance the duct system puts on the airflow. Too high, and the furnace cannot deliver its certified CFM; too low in the wrong places, and air is leaking or bypassing.
The assessment measures total external static pressure and the pressure across the filter, coil, supply and return paths where fitted, compares delivered airflow to the furnace's published requirement at rated static pressure, and inspects the obvious culprits: undersized returns, closed or blocked registers, flex duct crushed at fittings, and filters that are too restrictive for the cabinet.
The result is honest: either the ducts are fine and the problem is elsewhere, or specific ductwork work is needed with a price. This site does not sell duct cleaning; ductwork work means real changes to duct sizing, returns or fittings.
Napoleon specifics
Napoleon is one of the furnace brands BC Wide Heating & Air Conditioning lists among the brands it services in Greater Vancouver. This hub is the entry point for Napoleon gas-furnace documentation on this site; series, model and fault-code records are verified from manufacturer literature and added as they are completed, so this page grows over time.
BC Wide lists Napoleon among the brands it works on. Factory-authorized dealer status for Napoleon has not been confirmed and is not claimed here.
What is included
- Static-pressure measurements across the system
- Supply and return airflow sampling at registers
- Filter, coil and damper restriction review
- A written assessment with specific recommendations and pricing where work is needed
What is not included
- Duct cleaning (not offered on this site)
- Ductwork changes themselves, quoted from the assessment
Permits: None for the airflow measurements; duct changes are not gas work, but a separate permit may apply if the work involves building structure
When not to DIY
- Do not cut or modify ducts yourself while the furnace is running
How it works
Measure
Static pressure is read at the furnace and across components.
Sample
Register airflows are measured to find weak rooms and returns.
Report
Findings and, where needed, a ductwork scope with pricing.
Questions people ask
How do I know if my ducts are undersized?
Symptoms are weak airflow at distant registers, limits tripping on high fire, and high static pressure measured at the furnace. Measurement, not symptoms, confirms it.
Can a new furnace fix weak airflow?
Only if the old one was the limit. If the ducts restrict airflow, every furnace on them will struggle; the assessment tells you which case you have.
Is duct cleaning part of an airflow fix?
Duct cleaning addresses contamination, not sizing or restriction. Crushed flex duct, undersized returns and missing dampers are fixed by ductwork changes, which is what this site offers when measurement shows they are needed.
