Can I replace my furnace with the same size?
The old size is a poor guide. Older furnaces were commonly oversized and a 95%+ furnace delivers more heat per BTU of input. A heat-loss calculation sets the new size.
Can the new furnace use my old metal chimney?
A condensing furnace cannot vent into a B-vent or masonry chimney. It needs plastic venting to an approved termination. If a water heater shared the chimney, that chimney may need a liner once the furnace leaves it.
Should I add a heat pump at the same time?
