Most furnace manufacturers offer an upgraded warranty when the equipment is registered within a set window (commonly 90 days from installation, as stated on this site's model pages from the manufacturers' own product data). Missing the window or entering the wrong model or serial number can leave the furnace on its default coverage.

What happens if I miss the registration window?
The equipment stays on the default warranty the manufacturer states for unregistered furnaces. Some manufacturers allow late registration at their discretion; BC Wide can ask, but the terms are the manufacturer's.
Where do I find my furnace serial number?
On the rating plate inside the blower door. It is a different number from the model number; both are needed for registration.
