I am buying a house. Is a furnace inspection worth it?
For an older furnace, yes: the report tells you the equipment's condition, remaining-life expectations and any code issues before you commit. It is a different, deeper check than the visual look a home inspection provides.
Does an inspection include carbon monoxide testing?
The inspection reviews carbon-monoxide risk and, where the furnace can be run, measures combustion. If you want ambient CO monitoring advice for the home, ask for it as part of the report.
Can an inspection clear a furnace for another year of service?
It documents the condition on that day. Nothing can guarantee future failures, but a clean inspection with combustion analysis is the best available evidence of a sound furnace.
