American Standard Furnace Purchase Advice
BC Wide's furnace purchase advice covers what to compare before you buy: certified AFUE and what it means now that 95% is the legal minimum, staging and blower types, sizing from a heat-loss calculation, venting and condensate work, and warranty registration. Advice comes before any proposal, and no purchase is required. This page covers American Standard furnaces specifically.

Most buyers compare furnaces on brochure numbers: AFUE, brand, price. The decisions that actually matter are sizing, staging, the blower type, and the venting and condensate work the house requires, because those decide comfort and the total installed cost. Purchase advice walks through each of those against your house before model prices are compared.
Every new residential gas furnace sold in Canada must be at least 95% AFUE, so efficiency alone no longer separates options meaningfully. That is why this site explains staging and blowers the way manufacturers document them: a variable-speed blower is not a modulating burner, and certified AFUE depends on installation position.
BC Wide supplies and installs the equipment it recommends; equipment-only sales are not offered on this site. When a heat pump is in the picture, the advice covers dual-fuel design and the honest note that heat-pump rebates do not transfer to gas furnaces.
